Access is the constraint here, and it is not a small one. Removing a load-bearing wall requires Building Regulations approval through Dorset Council. Planning permission is not normally needed for internal alterations, but listed building consent is required for significant works to a listed property — and in Wimborne that is a real possibility rather than an edge case.
Approved Document A sets out the structural requirement, covering loadings and the construction of structural elements. Inspectors will typically want the calculations, the beam and bearing details, and sight of the bearings before they are covered.

Removing a wall from a period building is as much about what you do not damage as what you remove.
Sequenced propping. The load above is supported before anything is taken out, and the props stay until the bearings are built and cured. Rushing this is how ceilings crack.
Controlled removal. Old lime-mortared masonry comes apart more readily than modern brickwork, which sounds helpful and is actually a risk — it means adjacent sections can be disturbed. Cutting rather than breaking is often the right call.
Protecting finishes. Original floors, cornices, staircases and joinery are the things clients regret losing. They should be covered and boxed before the first prop goes up.
Dust and vibration. Both travel further in an old building. Sheeting, extraction and sensible tool choice matter, particularly in a terrace where neighbours share a wall.
Neighbours. Where the wall is shared, party wall procedures may apply, and a conversation before the notice arrives is worth a great deal.
